Is there a right way to do this? ugh
As you may remember....my mom's birthday was last week. Apparently this made my baby girl anxious. I was so hoping that she would not get my worry gene but I think she already has it. Ive tried to give her all the tools to deal with stuff like this but I guess it just comes natural. So she went to bed only to come into my room 10 mins later crying. Not just tears but belly shaking crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said she didnt know. Thats our famous answer around here. ugh Finally she told me that she was worried about grandma dying. Me, being the psycho that I am, starting thinking OMG she must 'see something' happening. I kept asking her why was she thinking stuff like that...she said it was because of my mom having a birthday and that means shes getting older. Old people die. OMG, at this point I am choking back the tears and trying not to cry. I can not deal with death myself. My dad died 2 weeks after my 17th birthday and I still have a hard time dealing with it.
What do I do? What do I say? I just held her and rocked her while fighting back my own tears and tried to keep my composure. Its hard being the adult sometimes. I told her to try and think of something else and have happy thoughts. We arent what I would call a really religous family but I volunteered to say a prayer. I just wanted to comfort her, to take away all the pain in the world and to let her be an innocent little child who only worried about how long she could play outside or what her snack would be if she ate all her dinner. Death is for adults. I just dont do death so this was a super hard parenting obstacle for me.

Lost without my ring
I took my wedding band in to get it cleaned and checked (has diamonds in the band) on Saturday and they asked if I wanted anything else cleaned. So I gave her my engagement ring and she came back and said the stone was loose and showed me. I hardly ever get my diamond cleaned there so Im super happy that I did this time. It will be back in 2 weeks. I am so lost without it though. I had no idea how many times I turn my diamond and what a habit it is to 'center it up'.
I did find out some good news though. The Husband picked a great stone! She said it only had one small flaw and you have to look very closely for it. I was proud! He picked out and bought this ring without me knowing anything about it. I love the size, stone and cut but I would change the band. I like thicker bands but this one is fine....I just got a bigger band to compliment it. Never happy huh? lol Really I do love it and it means alot that he did it all himself. My ex-husband just gave me the money and told me to buy a ring. Sa-weet! (jerk!)

Weight
I'm not losing any. I'm not really curbing what I eat that much. I'm not drinking water. Still have 2 soda's a day. I'm not really exercising like I was. I'm not counting calories anymore either. I stopped all of this when I got the Sinus Infection from Hell a few weeks ago. Yet I want to get all depressed when I try on clothes from last year that don't fit. Or when I think about taking M to the pool and having love handles. No one can do this but me so I can only be mad at myself. I guess I kinda really find it hard to believe that I will have to do this the rest of my life....watch what I eat and exercise. That doesn't sound fun. I guess you can't have everything, right?
Told you I was a spoiled brat....always wanting her way. ugh

My first Pedicure
yes, you read that right. I may be the very last person in the world who has never had a pedicure. I've never had fake nails either. Im a rebel like that. My mom does all of that and she takes M and my niece to get their toes done some times.
So last week was my mom's birthday and I decided to spoil her a little. Me, her and M went out to eat and then did a little shopping before heading to the nail place. We each picked out a color....since M and I were getting a purpley color my mom got one too. 3 generations of purple toes!
The experience was ok but I dont think I will be doing it regularly. Maybe it was the place we went but I dont really see how my toes look or feel any different than when I do them at home. The massage chair was kinda the highlight for me.

Yay I bought a new laptop today!
I am loving it! I have had my old laptop around 3-4 yrs and we kept replacing the cord/power adaptor because it would short out and the screen would blink. Well now even a new cord wont work and I was told its the motherboard that is right on the inside that this cord connects to. Or something like that. I don't understand it all. Today The Husband and I were out and about enjoying the weather and running some errands while M is with grandma.....so we went in to Staples and checked their computers out. We don't have a Best Buy and since Circuit City is gone there isn't a lot of choices. Anyway, to make this short we talked to the guy, looked online at Dell's website and saw that the same computer cost more through Dell....then went to another store to think about it. I hate making big decisions like this but I did it. We now have a great wide screen wireless laptop!! Yay!
Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday!

I'm not even going to pretend
that I will catch up on all my blog reading. I think once you get behind its just too hard to go back unless you have tons of time.
Work has been the same way. Slammed! I haven't had time for any Internet activities! Rude, I know. It will settle itself out soon. My boss is even helping me so I cant really surf the web while she does all my work. I do need this job. lol
The rain dance---you girls are awesome! We had no rain until the trip home. Now that's not to say we didn't have any problems. We woke up at 5:50 to be at school at 7am. While watching the news they were talking about a horrific accident that had the interstate shut down in both directions. Great. We get to school, board the bus, get on the interstate, get directed off the interstate onto a side road.....this road is one lane going each way so you can only imagine the traffic. Dead stand still. What should have taken us 30 mins took 2 hours.
We get to the zoo and we are off. So many parents went that only a few kids needed to have a chaperon. We were not one of them. It was just me and M free to roam the zoo for 4 hours. We got to see almost everything, went in the gift shops (M's fave part because she saved her money and I bought her stuff too), ate our packed lunch and just strolled around. We would randomly run into kids from school and sometimes get some photos with M and her friend. It was nice. I was a little disappointed in the animals at the zoo. No giraffe? wth? But they did have squirrels. We skipped that since we have plenty of squirrels at home.
On the way home the Interstate was still shut down so we tried yet another way home. This consisted of mountainous, curvy roads while we were in 3 big charters buses and the roads were slick. Oh and we cant forget High School Musical 3 blaring on the DVD player/TVs on the bus.
Soooo to all of you.....
hugs if you need them
awww's to your kids
great job's to you supermom's
you can do it to those trying to lose weight
etc etc

Is there a stop the rain dance?
There is a rain dance so there should be a stop the rain dance too, right? I'm hoping so. I am asking all of you to do a little STOP the rain dance today. We leave M's school at 7am tomorrow to go to the Zoo. Rain or Shine. I really don't want to walk around a zoo for hours in the rain. M will be uber disappointed if no animals are out because of the rain. From 4-6am we got an inch of rain and its still raining now. I hope its just getting it out of its system.
So yeah, dance today.
Break dance, shake your booty dance, waltz, slow dance.....whatever may work.
Just dance!

I have competition!
Madison got a paper home from school last week explaining an Essay/Poem contest. She said she wanted to do it but I didnt really think she would follow through.....sometimes she cant be bothered with this sort of thing.
The contest prize really drew her in though.
1st place-$100
2nd place-$50
3rd place-$25
She really wants to win first and BE RICH with all of that money. (Gotta love that!) So we talk about it and she decides that she wants to type out the essay. Oh, the theme is 'Why your teacher is special'. You could do past or present. She chose this years teacher. I asked if she wanted to tell it to me and I would type it. Nope, she wanted to do it all.
Here it is:
My name is M (she put 1st name, middle initial and last name) and I go to X elementary school. My teacher's name is Mrs. AA and I think she is special to me because she is nice which I like about her; she is probably the second best teacher since kindergarten. She is caring, responsible, she has citizenship, she is probably the best teacher besides our/my social studies teacher Mrs. BB is just like Mrs. AA. I really am really looking for the best year I've ever had with Mrs. AA. I love how she calls us all her friends. I like it but it's funny and it's weird at the same time. HA!HA!HA!. I love her reading and the math worksheets she gives us for homework! That homework is awesome! Mrs. AA may be the best teacher ever! And if someone got hurt who would be there? She would! And if people got or needed help who would be there for her class? She would! She has fun lessons. She does fun and cool things. She always tries to squeeze in time to read fun books. You should try having her for a second grade teacher and you'll know what I mean. I love being in her class. Even know when you really have to go to the bathroom during a lesson and she won't let you go other than that she is nice. She is the nicest teacher. That's why she is so special to me! THE END!
So after she got done typing that she kept begging me to type my mom an email. This email makes me laugh so much because shes like having her own little conversation.....
dear grandma want to see me type fast????? hold on.......................................bhdhnydgfdfggfdhgtfjghdbyhdjnhdfjhyfcnygfvhhhfggfdbntfjygdhjgdh

Writer's Workshop-What my kid is talking about
The awesome and funny MamaKat holds a weekly Writer's Workshop. Go check her out and read some great stories!
This week I am going to choose What are your kids talking about since I planned on blogging about this the other day.
My baby is having her first girl drama and it breaks my heart. The mom in me wants to just go kick the little girl’s ass but luckily I have a level headed husband. M has been in daycare from the time she was 2 yrs old and shes almost done with 2nd grade so shes been around her fair share of kids. She has never really had a problem before so I was very surprised when she told me this week that she wanted to switch schools. Huh? This little girl, Stormee, is mean to her all the time and even does the head rolling around thing when she talks to Madison. Its quite funny to watch a 7yr old do this, btw. So Stormee is mean and I ask M what she does and she says that since she is mean, M has every right to be mean back to her. Stormee has told M that she has told her mom and dad that M is mean to her. This was a huge discussion in our house on Tuesday night. I sometimes wonder what I should tell The Husband and what is better off not said. You know, like you want your kid to trust you so you shouldn’t go telling everyone their business. I’m probably way over dramatizing this since she’s only 7. But I don’t and never did have a very deep relationship with my mom. I want more than that with my daughter. I want her to know I will listen and guide her when possible.
Anyway so I brought it up in front of The Husband and M started explaining herself and this story. It appears that Stormee has no friends and is jealous. M hangs out with 5 little girls and they are a very close little group….sure we can call it a clique, I guess. Stormee is mean to all of these girls but at the same time she gets mad when they don’t want to play with her. The Husband told M to just ignore her and not give her any ‘fuel’. M thought this was great….we had had a nice talk and life was grand.
Yesterday she comes home from school and said Stormee was being mouthy with her again. M asked her friend Brandi if Stormee was ever mean to her and Brandi said yes. M said ‘my daddy said just to ignore her’ so Stormee heard this and said…..quit talking about me or I am going to tell the teacher. Ugh She didn’t tell the teacher. The Husband thinks she shouldn’t have brought it up to Brandi…..just ignore, remember. Me? I still want to kick her ass.
The realllllly funny part is: I know her mom. I used to be friends with her mom even though noone else wanted to because they thought she acted better than everyone else (apple-tree!) We are going on a field trip Tuesday and I will see Stormee’s mom and dad. This should be fun. I am soooo not ready for drama and hurt feelings.

So these pirates.......
are they new?
why are they just now in the news?
who are they?
did you know real pirates existed?
I heard this morning that a huge group of dolphins swam in between the pirates so that they couldn't take over another boat. That's kinda cool.
This is some serious business. Kind of weird too!
(I'm busy at work but I actually have things I want to blog about so its killing me to have to work. blah!)

Fashion---at any cost?
I have on cute black shoes today but they hurt my feet so bad! They are narrow at the toes with a chunky little heel. Sounds cute, right? Right now my toes disagree.
While we are talking about shoes and fashion. If you wear flip flops out in the rain you must know that people are laughing at you. At least I am. I know you want to wear flip flops and sandals and let your feet be free and shown blah blah..... I do too! But when you wear flip flops in the rain you get water on your pants. That's not fashionable and it cant be comfy either. So please, do not do this. It makes me want to tell you to go home to put on new pants so that you wont have water marks all the way up to your thighs in the back.
(Not attractive)

Mom of the Year Award
Mel, who is just the greatest (really!), gave me this Mom of the Year award. How exciting! I certainly don't always feel like it but I'm sure all moms are like that.
Rules for Mom of the Year Award:
Admit one thing you feel awful about involving being a mom.
Get it off your shoulders. Once you've written it down, you are No Longer allowed to feel bad. It's over with, it's in the past. Remember, you're a good mom!
I feel bad that I don't ever 'play' with Madison. Its gotten better since she has gotten older and into more things. I always have to remind myself in a few short years she is not going to want to do anything with me. Teenagers and all. I have been making more of an effort lately and it feels good to have a little balance.

I can NOT keep a secret!
I have to keep a HU-GE secret for 2 months and I don't think I can do it.
Not a mind reader? Ok, I will tell you what I am talking about.....
We aren't doing a big vacation this year because we want to go to a bunch of different places. So our first stop was going to be Hershey Park. M has never been to an amusement park so she will be amazed. Plus you have all of the chocolate stuff to do in town. We have looked at the website and she wants to ride the trolley and take the chocolate tour. Yay, fun stuff! We will be going in May so today we were looking around the website and she wanted to see pics of the rides. She happened to walk away for a minute and that's when it happened!!!! I clicked on the calendar events and May 31 iCarly will be there. O-M-G! Most kids her age love Hannah Montana but she has always liked iCarly. The husband and I have even been known to watch the shows. She has the cd's and the Easter Bunny just bought her an iCarly nightgown. (The Easter Bunny was shocked to find this because she has never seen anything iCarly in the stores)
I told The Husband......I admit I was so excited I could barely talk right......and he said not to tell her yet. This is the middle of April and I have to wait until the end of May to tell her. I'm not so sure I can do this. She is going to be soooooooooo happy. I am super excited and glad we are doing these little trips over our regular beach trip.
This really made my day. I love having something to look forward to. So April consists of the Zoo and Circus and May is the "party of the year" and Hershey Park/iCarly concert.
Come on May 31!!!

Where do these clothes come from?
I have already washed and folded 5 loads of laundry today. AND I still have around 4 more to go. We have clean clothes so this is telling me that we have way too many clothes is we can go this long without needing clothes. Hmmm. Now I have to put all of these clothes away. That's the sucky part. blah
*Disclaimer:
I have a gazillion loads of laundry to do because Ive been sick. I don't normally let them pile up this much.
**Sickness update:
Madison is on her last day of antibiotic and all is going well. I am on day 5 of round 2 antibiotic. I take this 2nd round for 14 days. The Dr said I would feel better by day 5 and I really do. Today is the best I have felt in weeks. I also slept 12 hours though. 10pm-10:30am. That was pure bliss!

I fell into the Twilight craze
I'm usually one who will not get involved in all the 'fads' like Harry Potter etc. Well I gave in and became curious about Twilight. A friend of mine has read the books and saw the movie 20 times. My boss read the books and watched the movie but enjoyed the books more. That's typical. So I got Twilight from the library and put off watching it until the last minute. Its due back today and we just got around to watching it last night.
The movie began with a scene and I thought 'oh I am so not going to like this'. I am not going to spoil it for others so there wont be many details given. I saw the famous Edward that everyone loves and drools over. I was not impressed at all. The movie goes on and I give it my full attention....typically I have my laptop on while watching a movie. The further I get into the movie the hotter Edward gets. The love story of it sucked me in.
Today I am wondering if I should read the books or wait it out until the next movie comes out. I am definitely looking forward to the next movie. If you haven't watched it you should give it a chance. I'm glad that I did.

The week in review
I cant believe I haven't posted since Monday.
Tuesday I went back to the Dr and started round 2 of antibiotics. This time I will take it for 14 days. She said that I probably wouldn't start feeling better until day 5, which is Saturday. Encouraging huh? Oh whats another 5 days of being sick. blah
I had to cancel my hair appt to be able to go to the Dr's. That kinda sucked because now I cant get in until May 4th. That seems so long away! Can you tell I have no patience? lol
M is feeling better so that's great news.
Last night we made Easter Sugar Cookies as a family. I really enjoyed this. It started out with me making cookies. I can not make sugar cookies for some reason. They never turn out. I put the dough in the fridge overnight and they still didn't work. I had to add tooooonnnns more flour to keep them from being sticky. This is probably the 4th recipe I have tried and its always the same thing. I don't understand. Anyone have a good recipe? Anyway, The Husband took over rolling the cookies, M's job was to play in the flour (and get it all over the floor), I was the oven person and then M and I decorated them once they cooled. I was tempted to bring out the Pampered Chef decorating kit (lol Staci) but I wasn't nearly ambitious enough for that. The end result was pretty and I did take a pic but don't hold your breath on me posting them. I still haven't posted pics of my new dining room table yet. Here's a visual for you.......bunny and egg shaped cookies with light pink, yellow and green frosting.
Today M has a birthday party to attend at 3:30. Who has a party from 3:30-5:30 on a Thursday? The principals son, that's who. Its at Pump It Up so I'm assuming it was cheaper to go it at this time? The school is on Spring Break this week but that doesn't mean the parents are. weirdo's. Anyway The Husband has to pick M up at daycare and bring her to my work at 3pm so I can take her to the party that is 5 mins away from my work.....her daycare is 30 mins from my work. THEN after the party I have to drive to meet my mom to give her M since daycare is closed tomorrow and I have to work. I left my house at 6:20am and probably wont return until 8pm.

A play date evolved
What started out as a play date has now evolved into tons o' girlie fun.
M has an early September birthday so she is in a new class for only 2 weeks before its time for her birthday party. I'm sure this will get easier as she gets older and keeps in close contact with her friends but it has kinda sucked since she started school. She doesn't even have time to get to know the kids before we need to give out invitations. Sure we could push back her birthday but she's not really interested in waiting for her party. Most 7yr old's wouldn't.
So I had the bright idea to have a play date before school was out just to hang out with her friends. woohoo brilliant mommy! That turned in to an 'End of the Year Party' which has just recently turned in to a 'End of the Year Party/Possible Sleepover'. 5 girls plus M. Am I ready for this? lol
I'm really excited though. I bought the invitations this weekend....party/sleepover is May 8. It was hard trying to find invitations for JUST a party....not a birthday party. Of course I didn't go to a real party store since we don't have one in my area. Anyway now I need to figure out what to write in the Event line...playdate/End of the Year Party/Sleepover/blah blah.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
*as a side note just because I am tired of hearing about my sickness so I know you guys are too. I am STILL sick. This antibiotic didn't work so I go back to the Dr on Friday.

I'm old
Saturday evening we went out to eat dinner and all was well. UNTIL the girls behind us started talking. It was at this moment that I began to feel like an old woman. Or maybe just someone with class? The words that spewed from these college girls mouths......horny, vagina, sex life, etc. This was not me struggling to listen to their conversation, this was me eating dinner with my family and randomly hearing these words. It appears that they were leaving the restaurant to go to a party and the one girl hasn't had sex in awhile sooooo *it* may happen the second she walks in the door of this party.
I was embarrassed for them.

Do people really iron?
Do you? I cant remember the last time that I ironed but I tried it tonight and Im not so big on it. Actually I am just going to throw my iron out because I think its kinda useless. The Husband tried to do some laundry a week ago and he put too much in at a time. Even going through the dryer a zillion times the jeans still have creases in them. My standard way of "ironing" is throwing the clothes back in the dryer for 20 mins until they are wrinkle free. Didnt work this time. At least he tried to be helpful by even washing the clothes, right? I am just going to re-wash them to get the creases out.
Sinus Infection x's 2
Our diagnosis is we both have sinus infections. Yesterday was day 1 of antibiotics and they gave little Miss M prescription cough meds also. She had the choice of chewable, liquid or swallow the pills for her antibiotic and she chose chewable. I asked was she sure because she had to take it even if she didn't like it. She still chose chewable and now she will cringe 2 times a day for the next 10 days. lol
It's supposed to be really nice out this weekend so hopefully we will be all better and can enjoy some fresh spring air! We have company coming over on Saturday for the day and the house is a mess (aka it needs to be dusted and the floors swept) but I don't really care at this point. We've had pizza 2 times in the past week and The Husband cooked 2 times.......hmmm this sickness thing might not be too bad after all.
Have a great weekend!

Writers Workshop: When I felt afraid
This is my first time participating in MamaKats writer workshop.....I just recently stumbled upon this blog and some of the topics for this week interested me. I could have wrote on many of them but I chose to describe a moment when I felt afraid..........
I was in a car accident and also newly separated from my cheating husband. I do not remember any part of the accident except for hearing someone ask my cheating husband who he was. He replied that he was my husband (he left the cheating part out, lol) and the ambulance person asked him if he wanted to ride to the hospital with me. I was lying on the bed inside the ambulance and it seemed like he was 100 miles away down a long corridor where I could just barely see his fuzzy face. He told the ambulance person that he was not going to go because he was with his dad. I thought I was dying. I broke my back in 2 places, had a hole in my hand, broke my clavicle, broke 3 ribs and punctured a lung but he couldn’t ride to the hospital with me. Someone that he told he loved for 8 long years. That was asking too much? Apparently so because I rode to the hospital by myself. All alone and scared. He did go to his mom’s house and call my mother who lived an hour away. And his mom did come to the hospital to be with me. The damage was already done though. I have never and probably will never feel so alone in my whole entire life. I thought I was going to die all alone. But hey, he didn’t want to upset his girlfriend. You are probably wondering why he was there in the first place. I live in a super small town and he just happened to come upon the wreck that I was in. He was with her. He got out to check on the people and then he saw me, his wife, lying in a ditch. I had just left him 2 weeks prior to this.
After saying all that I am actually glad that he was there. He was able to call my mother and also he proved to me that he really was worthless as a husband.

Living in 2009
You know you are living in 2009 when.......
1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.
2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.
3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.
4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.
5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.
6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.
7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.
8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go get it.
10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.
11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )
12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing.
13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.
14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.
15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.
You may have seen this but I thought it was cute when I got it today.

It's a Miracle
or I lied
or hallucinated
OR
I really did show them!
I came back to work yesterday and I was able to get back in to blogger.
Great huh? Yeah except I have been super busy from being off on Monday. Also, I got all superstitious and thought maybe that was a clue/sign/whatever you wanna call it to lay off the Internet. So I am. For this week, at least. Im sure it wont last long. Addiction and all.
We are still sick. Can I just say thank God I do not normally have a sick kid. She coughed alllllllll night long. I even tried high power cough syrup. ha! Didn't phase her. I'm pretty sure its turned into some nasty sinus junk and we will be going back to the Dr by the end of the week. Oh and picture day is tomorrow. Her poor little eyes look so tired! Each morning I threaten to take the day off but I only followed through on Monday. I may even skip LOST tonight to catch some sleep that I missed last night. Sleeping sitting up with a 7 yr old in a chair so that junk doesn't drain is a lot different than sleeping with a baby on your chest. Where did this huge kid come from?
I am ready for Flu Fest 2009 to end.
Now that I have veered off on many topics............
