A play date evolved

What started out as a play date has now evolved into tons o' girlie fun.

M has an early September birthday so she is in a new class for only 2 weeks before its time for her birthday party. I'm sure this will get easier as she gets older and keeps in close contact with her friends but it has kinda sucked since she started school. She doesn't even have time to get to know the kids before we need to give out invitations. Sure we could push back her birthday but she's not really interested in waiting for her party. Most 7yr old's wouldn't.

So I had the bright idea to have a play date before school was out just to hang out with her friends. woohoo brilliant mommy! That turned in to an 'End of the Year Party' which has just recently turned in to a 'End of the Year Party/Possible Sleepover'. 5 girls plus M. Am I ready for this? lol

I'm really excited though. I bought the invitations this weekend....party/sleepover is May 8. It was hard trying to find invitations for JUST a party....not a birthday party. Of course I didn't go to a real party store since we don't have one in my area. Anyway now I need to figure out what to write in the Event line...playdate/End of the Year Party/Sleepover/blah blah.

*as a side note just because I am tired of hearing about my sickness so I know you guys are too. I am STILL sick. This antibiotic didn't work so I go back to the Dr on Friday.

I'm so sorry you are still sick! That sucks!!!! Feel better soon!

What a fantastic idea... I may have to steal that one when Anthony gets older. His birthday is September 9th so we will run into the same problem! I hope M has a FANTABULOUS time with her friends....

What a fun idea. I may have to try this too. My son's birthday is usually the week after we start school, and he knows no one. How come I never thought of this? You're brilliant!

Those girls will make some fun memories I'm sure! Good luck! I just had a "spa" birthday party with my daughter a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun.

I sure hope girls (unlike boys) actually sleep when they go to sleepovers lol. Or at the very least that they stay quiet so you and your hubby can sleep lol.

M will love you forever and remember it always...just be warned...you may only want to do this once...lol.

That sounds like so much fun! I saw the cutest slumber party table decor in blogland (wish I could remember where). They had put down a white table cloth, then a colored one. Then they folded the colored one back like a blanket and set a pillow at the head of the table before setting it. It was really cute! I also saw a "spa girl" cake that was round and had cucumber slice eyes with a simple nose and mouth drawn on and a real towel piled at the top. Also adorable! Have fun!

Omgosh! Tip Junkie featured the table I was talking about with the pillows on them yesterday if you want to check it out! Good luck with your slumber party!
